A Conversation on AI, Data, and the Future of Healthcare: Seth Hain joins the “Healthcare is Hard” Podcast

August 5, 2025
Hain shares reflections on the evolving role of AI for clinicians, patients, and healthcare organizations.

On the Healthcare is Hard podcast, Seth Hain highlights how generative AI reduces clinician workload, helps patients and clinicians prepare for visits, and supports more informed decisions at the point of care. AI can summarize medical histories, flag potential care gaps, and generate visit briefs—helping clinicians get up to speed more quickly and focus on the patient.

Hain emphasizes AI’s role in building a learning health system, where insights from each encounter inform future care. He points to Cosmos—which now includes data from over 300 million patients—and discusses how large-scale data can be applied beyond research. Point-of-care use cases include disease-specific growth charts, risk prediction models, and population-level trends delivered directly within the EHR. The value, he notes, lies not only in the size of the dataset, but in how well it supports care through integration into everyday clinical workflows.
